In a world that spins at a maddening pace, Swedish DJ and producer Björn Hödel means to put it all on hold – captivating his listeners with a journey across the sound he once fell in love with. It’s the old school trance sound, an undying love that fuels his meticulously crafted originals, mashups, remixes and sets. Earning the support of the dedicated trance scene and an ever-growing fanbase, the Stockholm based talent is more than ready to dream big and aim higher. Under the Hodel moniker and nothing short of determination, it’s his mission to keep that sound alive, while blazing his own trail forward.

Drawn to that sweet pulse, melancholy, playfulness and alluring melodies of early trance productions, he quickly became infatuated by electronic dance music, wanting to produce his own take on the genre. Looking at Björn’s musical background, it’s no wonder trance music struck a chord. In his teenage years, he learned to play the acoustic guitar and performed at many classical concerts. His experience playing an instrument gave him a solid foundation in learning the ropes of producing, as he began his music making quest in the early 2000s. Kicking off with mashups and special edits, it was 2007 when Tiësto became one of the first artists to support a Hodel mashup. It gave him the chance to play his first DJ sets at the world-famous club brand, Monday Bar – and many more would follow.

15+ years into the game, and you’ll find Hodel’s productions signed and released on labels such as FSOE, Armada, Flashover, Black Hole, Spinnin’ and Enhanced – heavily supported by the likes of Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Aly & Fila, Judge Jules and many more. Hodel’s mashups have gotten quite some recognition as well. Songs like ‘Take Me Away In Silence’, ‘Carte Blanche vs. Children’ and ‘Lizard ’98’, have all been made with surgical precision, honoring the original material and giving them a brand new vibe – attracting new fans at festivals and clubs all around the globe.

Besides outstanding solo creations, Hodel’s been involved in several successful collaborations with artists like Arksun, who’s behind the immortal classics ‘Arisen’ & ‘Amsterdam’, Anjunabeats legend Nitrous Oxide and other talented producers. His first team-up, ‘Hydrogen’ with Jonas Hornblad back in 2008, earned them a 5/5 review in DJ Mag and Tune of the Week status on Armin’s A State of Trance radio show. Ever striving to keep that old school touch, it remains the essential ingredient to his productions – A mixture of heart, atmosphere and soulful melodies.

It’s the same drive and never-ending love for the classic trance sound that also fuels his DJ sets – Hodel simply puts his entire soul into them. Big sets, such as those at Monday Bar, can easily take up months of preparation. Each song, mashup and special edit thoroughly crafted or selected, ensuring the crowd to be taken on that same adventure – an out-of-body experience really. His combination of old school classics, from legendary ones to hidden gems, has seen Hodel regularly headlining events, playing alongside DJs such as Sander van Doorn, The Thrillseekers, Alex MORPH, Signum, Super8 & Tab, Airbase, Daniel Kandi and hosting his own Trance Classic stages at the esteemed Monday Bar.

Highlighting his ever-growing influence in the trance music scene, Björn makes notable appearances on Swedish national radio P3. Through insightful interviews and captivating guest mixes, he consistently represents trance, sharing his deep passion for the genre with a broader audience. This national recognition not only underscores Hodel’s prominence within the trance community but also affirms his role in introducing the timeless sound of trance to new listeners and enthusiasts across the Nordic region.
